We love pandas, and we love McFly, so when WWF invited us down to London's Royal Festival Hall on Saturday evening to watch McFly perform a very special gig while dressed as pandas, what could we say but HELL YEAH?
Tom, Harry, Danny and Dougie were all buttoned up in their black-and-white onesies to support WWF's Earth Hour, the world's biggest switch off, which was encouraging everyone to "do it in the dark" (ooer) for one hour to protect the planet. We popped backstage to chat with the boys before the show, and were treated to the very-nice sight of Harry Judd doing pull-ups. When Tom then cheekily reached over for a squeeze of his guns, Harry told us, "They're little at the moment, because I'm doing the marathon." In case any of you are wondering, they really aren't little. They are *fans self* nice. It's not the first time the band have donned panda onesies – earlier this month, they did theHarlem Shake as pandas! So, how does it feel to be a panda? "I keep sitting on my tail!" Danny laughed, while Dougie tried to convince us that he was naked underneath his. After the acoustic performance, which the boys did on a candlelit stage, all four stripped off and signed their (now a bit sweaty) panda onesies and handed them over to the WWF ladies to auction off. Unfortunately, we were told that the half-empty packet of chewing gum and £3.52 we had in our bag was not enough to snag one. Bummer! As well as channeling their inner bamboo-loving bear, the McFly foursome are currently in the middle of a hectic schedule of rehearsals for their upcoming UK tour, The Best Of McFly, which will kick off on 19 April. They've also been working on new stuff in New York and LA (get them!) and recording a tune they wrote for One Direction over in Dublin. Somehow, Harry is also finding time to train for and run the London Marathon and the Tough Mudder for Teenage Cancer Trust and Eyes Alight (you can sponsor him by texting HARRY to 70300). Makes us feel tired just imagining it. Perhaps we'll just go and quietly think about Harry's guns instead In Case you missed McFly's acoustic performance on Earth Ho McFly tease their song written with One Direction: ‘It’s stadium epic’ WELL COLOUR US EXCITED. When we heard the news that McFly and One Direction were combining their fitness and making music together again, our ovaries went into some form of overload. The thought of so much testosterone, tattoo and trendy bouffant in one recording studio is just TOO MUCH to deal with. So to tip us over the edge, McFly’s Dougie Poynter’s decided to tease us even more about one of their new tracks…and it sounds like a frickin’ belter. Brace yourselves, ’cause apparently the new McDirection music is ‘stadium epic’. Oh. My Gahd. Chatting about their tune to BBC Newsbeat, Most Beautiful Bassist in the World Dougie said “It hasn’t got a title at the moment but we wrote the song with Niall. He’s got some good ideas so had a lot of input.” He’s also got good hair and a very sparkly set of teeth, but we guess that goes without saying. And the big ol’ tease didn’t stop there, adding “They are smart guys. They know what they’re doing. They play to arenas and stadiums around the world, so I think it’s a bit of a challenge to come up with some songs to go with that.” Oh HOLD THE PHONE AND SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. Sounds to us like Dougie’s suggesting their new song’s gonna have us all jumping around doing silly dances in stadiums, probably chanting a mahoosive chorus and looking slightly ridiculous. Exciting. And we all know the lads have teamed up before on Up All Night’s ‘I Want’ and Take Me Home’s ‘I Would’, so this is gonna be frickin’ awesome, innit? What do you reckon? Excited to hear the boys’ new tune? Leave us a comment after this very serious McFly vid and we’ll love you forever. Do you know of any babies conceived to McFlys' music?
Tom: Our stylist is having our lyrics written on the wall above her bed, and she's pregnant. She had her first dance to one of our songs. Harry: We've had babies named after us. And tattoos. It's all quite weird. How do you feel about showbiz parties? Harry: I'm convinced most people in the industry are quite cringeful. We're just really normal people. We used to be quite cool but we're partied out. We used to like to party but we'd go with friends. Tom: I hate being social. I've got cats. Dougie: We're the Inbetweeners of the music world. What's the worst way you've dumped a girl? Harry: Ask Danny that. He doesn't - he just changes his lock. Dougie: Some people out there still think they're going out with him! Harry: He's got a good heart, he's just a coward in the true sense of the word. People would say to us: 'Danny hasn't called us.' You guys are hitting the road again in April. Are you excited? Tom: Very. It's the best part of what we do. We get a bit depressed when we're not on tour or when it comes to an end. Harry: there's a twitition of people who are trying to get us to go on tour in Europe. Mick Jagger hits the gym six months before a tour to make sure he's physically fit. Will you buys be doing the same? Tom: Apparently he has a running machine in his dressing room and he runs for 40 minutes before he goes on to get his adrenaline going. Harry: I'll be fine because I'm doing the marathon and have a show the day before and the day after. We have a masseuse who travels with us. Dougie: It's not pleasurable. It's like sports massage, because guitars are so heavy. Danny's got a warped back. He looks like something out of Dr Seuss. Have you guys ever been told to lose weight or gain weight by anyone for work? Harry: When we first started we were told to go to the gym by our manager, but we went twice. Tom: Then we realised Girls Aloud used to hang out downstairs in the Jacuzzi so we spent more time in there. When we first met my manager he told me my teeth were bad and I was a bit fat, but he liked my songs. Thanks Richard! McFly's Tom Fletcher and his new wife Giovanna might just be the cutest couple ever - the Sunday Mirror's Celebs On Sunday mag talked to the childhood sweethearts about love, that wedding speech song, soppy tears and baby plans... When it came to our Valentine's cover, there was only one couple for the job. Step forward, Tom Fletcher, the World's Most Romantic Man (we declare that official), and his lovely wife Giovanna. Last May, McFly singer Tom married his childhood sweetheart after eight years , and last month he posted his wedding speech on YouTube . The 14 minutes of gorgeousness, which saw him sing the speech to a medley of McFly songs, ending with It's All About You for his new missus (backed by the choir from Sylvia Young Theatre School, where they'd met as 13 year olds) has been watched by 9 million people all over the world. Girls sobbed like babies with the sheer romance of it, boys sobbed because they have never felt quite so inadequate in all their lives. The video went so global that Tom was interviewed on CNN in America about it, and considering McFly aren't exactly in the 1D league over the pond (they might be now, watch your backs, boys), it's pretty astonishing. Tom and Gi, both 28, are ridiculously sweet together. He is super-attentive and told her she looked nice on our shoot umpteen times (listen and learn, all other boys in the world). It could all be a bit 'eeew, ick' but somehow, it's not, it's just lovely. Mind you, it was lucky we still got to talk to them, seeing as Tom lost his wedding ring the day before our chat, getting in strife with the wife. Ah well, no one's perfect... The wedding ring is firmly back on the finger then... G: He was in so much trouble. I was like, 'Why did you take it off?' T: I was sat down getting my haircut before the NTAs and I went to play with it and it wasn't on my finger. I never take it off, so it was bizarre. G: Instead of calling me and saying, 'I'm really sorry, I've lost my wedding ring', he texted me a picture of his hand saying, 'Something is missing'. So where was it? G: I looked absolutely everywhere, and couldn't find it. Then I got into bed and thought, 'I wonder if it's under the duvet?' and there it was. I think he took it off in his sleep. What does that say? T: Let's not analyse too much... It's a horrible feeling. I'll try not to lose it again. Harry [Judd] and I have been playing this game where you have to flick your wedding ring and see who can get it the furthest though. Mine is wider, so I get more distance. G: Are you joking? That's not a game. T: We do it in a controlled environment... So. The wedding speech...G: You've made yourself into a romance icon. T: I put it on YouTube because I wanted to share it with friends and family who couldn't come to the wedding. If I put it on Facebook it would leak so I'd rather share it myself. In 30 minutes it got to 100,000 views. Then I got messages from family in America who'd seen it on the news. It's been nuts. How do you feel about the fact you've made every man in the world feel useless? T: I've been made to feel really bad. The thing is, it was a cop out because it was easier for me to do a song - it's like if there was a plumber who said, 'I don't want to do a speech, I'm just going to do some plumbing'. That's what I do, it's easier for me to write a song. I'm rubbish at speeches. I wrote a normal speech but I couldn't get through half of it without cringing, it was so bad. I had a piano in my hotel room on tour so I just started messing around and decided it could work. I was the most nervous I've ever been. I was really surprised I didn't fluffit - when I was practising I'd get so emotional I couldn't sing. Are you the biggest crier? Because, Giovanna, you looked quite composed... G: I know if I cry, that's it, Tom's gone. I cry a lot but Tom cries more than me. T: Danny [Jones, Tom's bandmate who helped him with the music] was really crying. I've never seen that, he doesn't cry a lot. So he set me off. You two have been together for the whole time McFly have been famous... G: We met when we were 13, then broke up for two years when we left school because we went to different colleges - I lived in Essex and he lived in Harrow, which seems like a long-distance relationship when you're 16. Then I went to Namibia for a year. I had another boyfriend but I kept thinking about Tom. I got home and we were talking all the time. He used to send me love songs he'd written and one was something like, 'Take a leap of faith, don't look back, there is no tomorrow'. T: So cheesy! G: I drove over to my boyfriend's and broke up with him, and we've been together ever since. Did you get jealous grief from McFly fans? G: I rarely got grief, but now there is Twitter I get the odd comment. But I'm not a model, I'm not size 8, I'm your average girl next door. So I give these girls hope! Did you used to have to pretend you were single, Tom? T: There were times when we got the awkward question of, 'Do you have a girlfriend?', and none of us wanted to say. long have names G: I was saying to my family, 'Seriously I am going out with him. He's just not allowed to say.' When Tom was off on tour did you wonder what he was up to? G: Yeah, it was really hard. They have so much temptation thrown at them, surrounded by girls who are way out of their league. They grow up fast but in a weird environment. As if the speech wasn't enough, your proposal was über-romantic too... T: Sylvia Young sold the building where we went to school and it was being renovated, so I got in there just as it still resembled our old school. It was stripped back to the original church walls, it looked amazing. I got the producer of a show we were working on to call Giovanna and say we were filming and could she come and meet me. G: Part of me did wonder if he would propose - we've been together so long, that every holiday or event, you're thinking, 'Is he going to already' ask me?' I got there, opened the door and could hear music playing and there were candles all down the stairs. My reaction was to shut the door, I was like, 'Oh my God'. T: It was amazing. We both cried. It was emotional not just for getting engaged but being in the place where we met, knowing it was the last time we would see it like this. How is married life? Does it feel different? G: It feels a bit magic. There is a sense of unity. T: You just feel a bit more grown up. But we'd been living with each other for six years before we got married, so it doesn't feel completely different. G: You've got to try before you buy... T: People treat us differently now - like, when we go on tour, management are more sensitive, they make sure our wives are looked after. G: I've had people being quite dismissive for a long time, so it's nice to have a purpose, like, 'This is why I'm here'. And are you both feeling broody? T: We've been broody for a long time. G: We want no less than two, no more than four. T: We'll take it as it comes, we don't want the stress of trying. We have a list of names already, but it's always changing. You have to get in early and start showing people lists because then we can be like, 'We've bagsied that one!' SOURCE Mcfly have admitted that they are looking forward to becoming fathers now that they have all settled down.
Talking exclusively to omg! Harry Judd, who wed last year, admitted that all four boys are looking forward to fatherhood, joking that Danny Jones was probably already a Dad. He said: “Danny already is a dad- dotted around the world. We hope that we will all be daddies one day.” With Valentine’s day just two days away, we asked the boys what their plans for the big day were. Harry, however, initially thought that V-day was on the 12th February, rather than the 14th. After prompting the Strictly champ the actual date, Harry covered up his mistake by claiming that he celebrates the occasion over four days. Hmmm… He said: “My Valentine’s day lasts four days, two days before and two days after! Starts the 12th and finishes the 16th .” Well it looks like wife Izzy is in for a very romantic week starting from today! We then asked what the most romantic thing Mcfly have ever done for their other halves was, with Dougie admitting that he got his girlfriend’s initials tattooed on his elbow. This romantic gesture however, wasn’t initially meant for Lara Carew-Jones, rather for band mate Harry. Harry explained: “He’s got the Delorean from Back to the Future on his arm and when we were on tour- lads on tour- I was in my bunk- back in the drinking days and I crashed out first. “Dougie was still up and he came up to my bunk to see if I had any cigarettes. So he was flicking his lighter and to wake me up he just burned his lighter on my arm and I was in a lot of pain and he felt bad. “So I said if that scars, you’ve got to get my initials tattooed in the number plate of the Delorean and he agreed to it until he got his girlfriend’s tattooed instead.” WATCH VIDEO IN THE NEWS SOURCE In Case You Missed The McFly Show, We've Got You Covered, As This Show CAN'T SIMPLY BE MISSED! Credit For The Person Who Uploaded That On Youtube & FULL Credit Goes To ITV McFly singer Tom Fletcher says he wants to work with One Direction again after writing with 1D over the summer. Tom and his McFly bandmates worked with One Direction on two tracks, "I Would" and "Irresistible," from their new album Take Me Home, and would love to get back in the studio with them again in the future.
"It’s quite a selective process writing for other bands," Tom said told the Daily Star in the UK. "I don’t want to write a song for just anyone. I only do it for people I really like because that’s when you do your best work, so I hope the relationship we have with One Direction can continue." The "Obviously" singer then went on to praise One Direction's international hit song "What Makes You Beautiful" calling it a "breath of fresh air." "I love great pop music," Tom said, explaining that McFly doesn't have a problem with being associated with the younger boyband. "When 'What Makes You Beautiful' came out it was like a breath of fresh air. It’s perfect pop and you don’t think about anything else." "The new Taylor Swift single is the same," he added. In addition to writing "I Would" and "Irresistible," Tom Fletcher also wrote 1D's song "I Want" from their debut album Up All Night.
