When Tom Fletcher, lead singer of McFly, put his all-singing wedding video on YouTube earlier this year, it quickly became a viral sensation. And now, in a brand-new interview, the band have joked that the bride was "an actress" they hired to help Tom discover his dream of becoming a YouTube sensation.
Tom Fletcher - who is married to TOWIE star Mario's sister Giovanna - was recently asked byDigital Spy if he expected the huge media interest behind his wedding speech and, before he could answer, bandmate Harry chimed in:
"Storm in a teacup, that was," he said, possibly referring to the resulting media speculation surrounding his supposed anger at Tom for overshadowing his OWN wedding photos being published in Hello that same week.
"It wasn't even a real wedding. She was an actress. Tom just wanted to be a YouTube star."
Tom then continued to explain that he only put the video up on YouTube to ensure that friends and family abroad who missed the happy event could watch it online:
"We wanted to put some stuff up on Facebook to share, but if you put stuff on Facebook it only gets hacked and ends up on YouTube anyway."
"I only put it up to share with friends and family who couldn't be there."
We imagine he didn't expect his many McFly fans also counted themselves amongst his friends...
